The original castellated nut nut required a 1/2" BSF - 7/16" Whit spanner but the BSF threaded pin is no longer available. The size of the castellated nut is now 3/4" A/F.

BSF castellated nuts are available:-

Why do you need to undo the nut?
Replacing the top trunnion bushes or removing the top trunnion from the top pivot pin does not require the pin to be removed.
The top pin is on a shallow taper and is very hard to remove from the damper arm. Even with my 10 ton press the job is not easy. If you have to remove and replace the pin it may be better to purchase new pins.

To add to what Phil says, if you need to replace a damper it is easiest to replace the pin and send the damper off for exchange with the old pin still attached.

The nut on the other end requires a 1/2" BS - 7/16" spanner.
