Re: wiring diagram
I installed a Lucas branded new switch recently. Most of the wires are similar enough to get it mostly correct. There were only 2 wires I was not sure about and I got that wrong first time but it was simple enough to swap them round.
All of the connections for the indicator switch are bullet connections made inside the dash on driver's side (remove glovebox).
I am sorry my answer is not more helpful but I simply cannot remember and I did not take photographs when I installed the new switch.
Is your new switch a Lucas branded one? If so, I can remember what some of the wires are:
Black=earth. The same as in the loom
Brown with black trace=purple/black in loom. Is for the horn
Now you have 4 wires left.
Now my memory is not very good and this should be taken with a large pinch of salt:
Green light brown=green/brown in loom (goes to L on flasher can)
Green dark brown (actually is it a very dark red?)=green/red in loom LH flasher lamps
green/white=same as loom RH flasher lamps
Green (no trace)=light green in loom (goes to P, pilot on flasher can)
My car is 1969 by the way and yours may be more complicated if an earlier car

Re: wiring diagram
Hi Stephen, after about 4-5 attempts I’ve got it working and can confirm your memory is correct, thanks
Why can the wires be manufactured with a similar colour code?
Now I’ve got to sort out the cancelling cam! That’s a faff too!
All good fun

Re: wiring diagram
Well done!
It's really annoying because there was a British standard wiring colour code, BS-AU7. Why make a part for a classic car that does not follow the code? Especially annoying with a "Lucas" branded part because it was Lucas who largely invented the colour code that became BS-AU7!
Yes the self-cancelling is a fiddle to set up.

Re: wiring diagram
The self cancelling worked great with the old indicator unit but it did take a few goes to get right.
That’s a job for another day though

Re: wiring diagram
What was wrong with the old one, they can usually be repaired.

Re: wiring diagram
Well in my case it was completely worn out and the indicator switch arm badly corroded and horrible to touchJOWETTJAVELIN wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 1:10 pm What was wrong with the old one, they can usually be repaired.

Re: wiring diagram
In my case it worked fine for turning right but turning left it overshot the contacts and had to be pulled back a little. Also the chrome arm was looking very sorry for itself.
Also I’d sold a few bits and bobs so had a little surplus cash in the coffers so I thought I’d treat the old bus.
