Glove box magnetic catch

Post by Mark Wilson »

I've just replaced my ineffective original plastic bodied magnetic catch with this metal bodied one from Screwfix

https://www.screwfix.com/p/carlisle-bra ... lsrc=aw.ds

It is surprisingly suitable - the fixing holes are identical, and it looks the part. It doesn't project quite far enough to grab the existing strike plate on the lid, but it's a simple job to remove the existing rivets and rivet in the plate supplied with the catch. which does have a projecting plate. It holds the lid much more firmly than the original!

Nice one! I did a similar thing a while ago with a 1965 saloon, with a similar magnet from B&Q, IIRC.
