Well done on the rebuild.
I am about to start on mine.
Did you go with rings from ESM?
What do the number 2's stamped into the top of the block signify? Mine has 3's.

Hi the no2 on the block apparently are build cast numbers irrelevant really
No i would not use the esm piston rings i had terrible trouble with the oil control rings
I had to reuse my own knowing they had done no work
All in all very pleased

The 2 on the block refers to the grade size of the bore which may have differed slightly from the standard size due to machining tolerances. On the original factory build, the pistons would have had a 2 inside a diamond shape stamped adjacent to the block stamping. On an engine rebuild, these numbers are irrelevant
I found with the ESM rings that the third ring down had a ridge dodger placed at the BOTTOM. What with other deviations from standard, I discarded them and used Cords rings.
