And if anyone is able to help, I also need some research from the same records, so you could combine the two jobs at once :D Thanks.

That's the plan, makes both Simon's & myself's life easier if we both have engine, g/b, r/a numbers & build dates to cross reference chassis numbers with.

Like the Mini Club, team of us doing it.

Does it involve visits to Gaydon?

That's certainly what I need, a few days in the reading room going through ledgers. Use of a laptop would be handy too.

Apart from records held by official sources, the information supplied by individuals, would surely depend on the originality of the vehicle these numbers are taken from, my van, for example, has not got the original gearbox, so the numbers would be misleading if linked to the vehicle chassis number etc. In fact how many vehicles still have the factory fitted items, not many I bet.
Incidentally I thought all this data gathering was virtually finished, in fact I recall years ago, an old post saying as much. Yes anticipated publication was decided against, but that was a personal decision, which of course is respected.

Les, I DID say that, however, that was before we realised how inaccurate the "production by year" figures quoted from the Glass' Commercial Guide were.
In SOME cases can have as much as 3k LCVs assembled in subsiquent years, imho a reference book containing wrong info is both pointless & a waste of money.

For example, total build figure for LCVs quoted 50yrs ago was 326627, when it was really 327227.

Thankfully, although only a handful of 100% genuine GB & RA numbers, have been lucky with original body & engine numbers, without which there would be no chance of making sense of the real production list carry on.

Additionally, existing info available based on UK vehicle production, not fair to those in foreign countries with CKD motor's.....

Gotta thank everyone who's helped us with this.

Quite a few more visits required, bit slow going, but accuracy is paramount!
