So my 948cc has been running very rich & sooting up the plugs. My carb is the AUC 6070. Float valve not sticking, choke not sticking, needle fine, even when I adjust the jet right in & only open it slightly it still runs rich. Can’t figure it out.
Any ideas???

Re: Carburettor trouble
AUC6070. That number does not appear on the Burlen Fuels SU carb listing for Morris Minors. Where did you obtain the number from? There should be a tag attached to the float chamber lid which gives the carb number from which the specification of the carb can be determined.
As regards the richness - have you checked the float chamber needle for serviceability and the fuel height in the float chamber.

The jet could be worn or misaligned? Piston sticking?
