Sykes Pickavant valve seat grinder.

If you have a requirement to replace the stone dresser diamond on the Sykes Pickavant valve seat grinder it can be substituted with a modified Machine Mart (MM) diamond grinding wheel dresser.
The MM dresser has to be reduced in dia to 3/8" for 2" from the diamond end. A 3/8" BSF thread is then cut on the reduced shank.
The overall length of the MM dresser is reduced to 2 1/2" from the diamond end. The original dia of the dresser can be knurled if required to give grip when advancing the wheel dresser diamond.
I have been unable to find a source of Sykes Pickavant replacement grinding stones but the stones fitted to the Black & Decker valve seat have the same thread 9/16" by 16 TPI.
There are plenty of Black and Decker stones available on 'e' bay - mainly from India.
Sykes Pickavant valve seat grinder kits appear quite regularly on 'e' bay and are a worthwhile investment but make sure that all the parts are with the kit as many kits do not have a full compliment of parts/stones or guides. To get a full set of parts I had to purchase two part sets and combine the two.
