Hi everyone.
I am the new owner of a Trafalger Blue 1098 from 1970. The gearbox crunches going down into 2nd gear, and I would like to sort it.
Unable to rebuild the box myself, I have found someone locally (Staffordshire) who will rebuild a box for me .
Because the car is a daily driver I would like to leave my existing box in the car until I have a decent box to install.
However, it seems that the options are to pay the enormous sum of £645 for a reconditioned box, or buy one off Ebay that is parts only, for £100.
Neither of which seems like a goo deal.
Does anyone have a decent ribbed case box for refurb at a sensible price ?
Or a Ribbed case box in good order at a sensible price ?
Many thanks for any feedback.

Re: Gearbox Needed
Is it crunching going into 1st or 2nd? 1st gear has no synchro so this is normal. It should not crunch going into 2nd.
If you have never driven one before its best never to select 1st while moving. You will find when stationary 1st is easier to select if you pit it in 2nd before selecting 1st.

Re: Gearbox Needed
There is another possibility - double declutch.
Re: Gearbox Needed
Yes of course, but if its not worn out and needing replacement you don't need to do that .
