High level brake light

Tailgating is an official sport here in Texas, and having a 3/4 ton dually chasing your rear end is not a comfortable experience in a Morris Traveller. To be honest I think most folks just drive up close to see what that thing is that they are following. Anyway... I'm going to add a high level brake light before I get rear-ended.

I searched the forum and saw many agree that it is a good option, but few ideas how to do it, particularly for a Traveller. I saw one that had it mounted to the inside roof frame, projecting through the glass of the nearside door, but that would be a head bumper for me, and looked a bit clunky. Ideally, I'd have thought there should be two, mounted to the inside top of the doors, either side of the middle rails.
Or, has anyone found one that would fit the curvature of the metal roof, right above where the doors meet?

There's a dizzying array of after market units out there, but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who found an elegant solution.

Also, since most are LED, is there any problem mixing up regular bulbs with LED's in the same circuit?

Watching with interest.
I want to fit hi-level brake lights to my 6cwt van.
I was sure that I had seen stick-on strip brake lights that would sit at the bottom of each rear door glass, but can I find them anywhere?

I agree - good idea!
I fitted one years ago and used those telescopic magnetic pickups.
(mines a 2 door) so used the above to stick to the shelf below rear window and mounted the light to the top of them. I didn't use the small (8mm?) ones but those with larger magnets.
Height adjustable and they have never fell over or moved.
I'm sure something could be devised with them hanging from a bodywork roof section?

I used one of these each side secured on the inside rear doors on my traveller.
I connected side, brake and turn lights to existing, being LED very little current used.
I am quite satisfied with the outcome.

Sorry I posted an old photo of a faulty one, not very good with this computer stuff.

My ones fitted now are used on the rear of motor bikes, (motor cycles), similar ones on eBay 254355469126, obviously from China.
As I stated they are very discrete and I am very satisfied with the outcome.

I fitted a single led strip to the top wood in my traveller, very effective.

Ps, I’d recommend replacing the dodgy looking insulation tape with some heat shrink tubing. Looks neater and much more reliable.

I just twisted the cables together to test for faults. I will solder the joints and run them through flexi tubing as part of the tidying-up process.
