Advice needed on how to decide on modified morris minors.

Yes, its a bit of an old chestnut. I have been asked to find out how other branches deal with modified cars at branch rallies.
We have a modified class that we use on the rally form. Some people class their cars as modified, others would part the same car with the standard morris minors.
Say you have a series 2 mm with a 948 engine and no other changes Modified or non modified?
As above, with a 1098 engine. Modified or un modified?
As above with 1098 engine disc brakes, better seats radio ect ect. Modified or non modified?

Its a branch rally, so there is no concourse judging. Just Rally entrant.

At our (Malvern Hills) branch rally, in many aspects it would be great to ignore modified completely and just park the car with the other series 2's. But what do other branches do?
Thanks

A good question. My personal take is that the modified section should really be aimed at obvious major modifications like roof chops, range rover V8s etc. The reality of the rest of the classes is that most will have a mod or two so I say just park them up as they should be. My series II looks standard so I can easily get away with parking it in the series II section, however it is actually running 1275, discs, hydraulic clutch and tele rear shocks. I think these days it’s mainly concourse that will be completely standard. A rambling answer I know!

The above comments relate more to the custom section/classification more than the modified section/classification.
You could always get in touch with Andrew Chaplin of the Custom and Modified Register to get a definitive answer regarding what is custom and modified in the eyes of the MMOC.
He can be contacted at: andrew_chaplin@hotmail.com

As regards my own Minor - it does not fall into the Modified or Custom requirements as per the MMOC definition but somewhere in between.

All my cars have had 'minor' modifications, as I have no interest in competing / concourse and they look standard I just park them with the other 'standard' cars. It's where I like my car to be parked and seen anyway.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Ok, thanks for the advice. As ever it looks tobe the owners take on what a modified minor is and how well they know the cars history or what the standard spec is.

Will expect the usual amount of chop tops parking with the convertible's rather than in the modified row.

There are a couple of deliniations that might make sense.

Firstly, safety. Added seatbelts rear inertia instead of static, radial tyres in place of original crossply, improved brakes, hazard lights. Seems wrong to punish for making your car safer.

Secondly within the BMC family. Eg Midget or Marina engine, gearbox, back axle, Mini heater,
