I'M LOOKING AT REPLACING THE REAR FLOOR PANELS AND FRONT LEAF SPRING HANGERS ON MY 1957 MOGGIE 1000 4 DOOR SALOON, AND I WAS WONDERING IF THERE ARE KITS AVAILABLE THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO REPLACE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME OR DO I NEED TO WELD IN THE FLOOR PANELS AND THEN WELD IN THE HANGER REPAIR SECTIONS.
THE ONLY REASON FOR ASKING IS I WOULD LIKE TO TRY AND MAKE IT EASIER TO DO THE JOB.
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP

Re: REAR FLOOR PANELS AND FRONT LEAF SPRING HANGERS
Hi
If you search the usual suppliers, there are Spring Hangers available 'on plate' or 'off plate'.
You'll need to look at how that compares to the amount of floor panel you're looking at replacing.

Re: REAR FLOOR PANELS AND FRONT LEAF SPRING HANGERS
The hangers "on a plate" are still only a repair panel though. Nobody seems to sell a complete rear floor pan with the spring mountings attached. Rebuilding that are below the rear seat is quite an involved job and the rear floor pans don't come back far enough unfortunately.

Search the Forum for posts re this repair. It is absolutely VITAL that several measurements are taken from fixed points so that both spring hangers are square to the car in the right spot. Horror stories of a " professional " ??? garage that did the job , mucked it up and the owner couldn't fit his prop shaft back in the car, Repairs welded in too close to front. Nightmare.
I made a little wooden jig before taking the springs off my mate's car. One end welded at a time , using each
" end " of the batten alternately.Nut and bolt through the bracket , lifting the whole repair panel up into place.
Clamped the metal , checked the datum point measurements ( numerous ) , then fired up the welder.
Any queries , just ask. make sure the car is secure on plenty of axle stands , thick planks to spread the load.
Front wheels well chocked.
Bob

Re: REAR FLOOR PANELS AND FRONT LEAF SPRING HANGERS
I got mine from ESM...really nice stuff too...
I swapped out the spring hanger bushings too while I was in there pulling stuff apart...
I am not restoring just trying to save this old heap...
Good luck with your project....

Re: REAR FLOOR PANELS AND FRONT LEAF SPRING HANGERS
I'd check the dimensions before you start, on ours on what appeared the originals one side was 1/2" further forward than the other!
I must have measured it half a dozen times to be sure, in the end put them back correctly.
