Windscreen wash for MM 1954

Post by carlosramalho »

for better visibility i will mount a windscreen wash in my 1954 Morris Minor, the car came without it
I already have all the necessary parts but in any case I need to know how far from the hole where the twin jet is installed, to the bonnet Button ? Thanks in advance for your help.
In the mean time I wish you a Merry Cristhmas
Regards Carlos

Carlos, when the cars began to be factory fitted with screenwashers, the jets were situated on the scuttle, not the bonnet. This is a better plan than drilling the bonnet where the delivery tube not only looks unsightly but risks trailing across the engine. So the neatest solution is to install them on the scuttle and run the pipe from the bottle (which should be on the vertical inner wing) up into the car and to the jets, where the plumbing will be out of sight.

Regarding screenwashers there are any number of period equipment kits to choose from, it could be a simple manual plunger or a highly effective Trico washer or Lucas Electric Screenjet, which was the world's first electric washer and is an ingenious device.

Merry Christmas to you too friend.

If you want period screen wash fit a Manekeen Pis /John Thomas screen wash jet. They were all the rage back then.
