But the other one looks much better quality! I keep my ( upgraded) jack and tools in the original thin PVC bag issued by BMC in 1965 and never cease to be amazed by its flimsiness. Originality is only for shows. Make it all as safe and practical as possible and that includes tools. I carry a small blunt crow bar to get hub caps off. Works a treat! Wurzlejock.

Re: Which one is original
As Stevey said earlier, the one in your second picture is the one which BMC included in the Minor 1000 original tool kit. Each new Morris Minor 1000 was also supplied with an owners handbook to explain the use of the tools provided.......
It might be a little flimsy but mine still works perfectly well after more than 50 years - which is probably at least 40 years more than its designed lifetime

Re: Which one is original
It is easier to use a screwdriver on a Series11 wheel because of the different design of the hupcap retainers.
From memory though, the Series11 was supplied with a wheelbrace which also acted as a hubcap remover and a seperate starting handle which was a rather better design that the later Minor 1000 one.

Re: Which one is original
Yes, my SII has that type of wheelbrace/hubcap remover. Its poor as a wheelbrace, but good at removing hubcaps . But the starting handle is certainly better, as it has a sleeve over the end which you hold, so that the handle rotates in the sleeve as you crank the engine over.

Re: Which one is original
I have the original jack and starting handle for mine but when it was restored it lost the jacking points. So I always carry a scissor jack but even then I'd spread the load with a piece of wood. I never had the original hub cap remover.
I remember stopping outside Aberdeen in 73 to help a bloke change his tyre on an 1100. I jacked it up on the sill. The jack went up a long way but the car never moved. Maybe you should call out the garage I said cycling hastily off. Sorry!

Do you not find that a metal lever or Schrewdriver scratches the paintwork on the wheel rim? I got fed up with that and now use a nylon lever.

Re: Which one is original
I place a piece of cardboard between the habcap tool and the wheel so it can't get scratched as the hubcap is levered off.....
Re: Which one is original
Thought of sharing my research. Both are original by BMC and both available in Morris parts manual list. One is 11H1051 and another is 11H1686. Some used in MG and other BMC make. Apparently its depends which factory the car was made. The flat was used in Nuffield it seems. Again, not much genuine source.. not important anyway.
Thanks for the input..
