Richard
The oil filter references the spin on oil filter conversion for the SV engine not the 948cc OHV engine.

Apologies for coming to this discussion late, but I would like to clarify which components are required to convert the oil filter on a 1952 MM USHM3 engine without water pump. Following the thread above (and some others) am I correct in thinking it is a Massey Ferguson adaptor head such as this: https://shorturl.at/SDiWc together with a filter from Halfords? I cannot see HOF203 currently listed. Which bolts will I need? Presumably the gasket with the head will fit, or will I need to cut a new one?
Thanks in advance.

The Massey Ferguson oil filter casting has wider oil connection holes than the original Morris block design. The Morris block has 3 holes in it, but only the 2 larger holes are used, the small hole is an oil bypass which isn't used on the USHM3 engine (Picture shows the MF gasket and the small oil bypass hole Red Arrow).

Morris oil filter casting two oil holes used, oil bypass hole is covered and not used (Blue Arrows).

I made a thin aluminium spacer as a gasket copied from the original Morris oil filter casting to replicate the original Morris casting design. Second Picture.

Bosch P3033 oil filter.

Pleased to help..

Your article on the Lucas battery top construction in Minor Matters was excellent. The timing couldn't have been better for me as I was just about to start to make a similar top.
