I had a great deal of trouble fitting the front window with a new rubber.
This was how I finally managed it after trashing one rubber and some metal finisher strips.
Fix the rubber first
Then feed in the cord. I used quite thick nylon cord.
Then fix the metal finisher strips.
After lubricating the rubber and frame I presented it to the car using 2 straps bought from Toolstation.
(Thorsen Endless Tie Down Set 25mm x 5m No Hook)
I did need to cut the straps a bit shorter otherwise the excess strapping fouled the ratchet.
Still a difficult job but as I worked the cord around the window I was able to tighten the straps as required.
