Ruby the MMOC Lowlight

Post by Cam »

Hi All,

Just a quick update for those folks that are not aware of the current situation!

As you all know the Young members are engaged in a charity run from Lands end to John O' Groats. Andy Wilson and Tom Morris started the run using 'Ruby' the Club project car.

Having tested the car prior to the event and attended the National Rally in it they were confident that it would be up to the task.

Unfortunately en route to Gloucestershire the car suffered a mechanical failure when the hub on the rear axle broke causing the rear wheel to part company with the car.

Fortunately no one was injured and no other parties were involved as a result.

The car was recovered to Derby where today a repair was carried out using parts already in stock in the premises. Kevin Dickerson carried out the repairs with assistance from a friend of his.

Andy and Tom used the club van to return to Coventry on Saturday and have today restarted the Lands End to John O Groats run using a different Minor.

It is hoped that this attempt will be less eventful and that all the participating cars including the Ruby car will be on show at Thoresby at the MVA rally this coming weekend as planned.

Sorry to hear this. :( Quite an unusual thing to happen - was it badly rusted? Anyway, I hope the bodywork wasn't too badly damaged as a result...
