Vinyl cleaning
Hi,
I need to try and restore the drab grey colour, hopefully to a more blueish colour, of my vinyl interior. I'm looking for a vinyl cleaner and protector that is gentle on the surface but gets into the pores of the vinyl material.
If you've done this job before I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks

Re: Vinyl cleaning
There are various vinyl cleaners out there but I find Autoglym caravan and motorhome cleaner works great. You get a lot of product and it's useful for all kinds of cleaning besides vinyl and motorhomes - works brilliantly on wheels and dirty engine bays too

Re: Vinyl cleaning
Or you could use a leather dye to change the colour,i changed a rear seat from red to black,as i could not find a black back seat.only cost £8 ish looks fab and wears well, gave it a good clean first with acetone and a rub with leather dubbing afterwards.

Re: Vinyl cleaning
Sounds like a suitable alternative for me, if the new colour doesn't have to be much darker than the original.
Is there a leather dye manufacturer you could recommend ?
Thanks

Thanks everyone.
Re: Vinyl cleaning
I'm not sure that leather dye would be the best thing to use on vinyl seats. Here's a great thread about interior refurbishment which you might find useful, and it includes dying vinyl seats:

For cleaning the vinyl is tough old stuff and you can attack it with washing up liquid and a scrubbing brush. I had some seats which looked so awful I almost threw them away but they came up surprisingly well.
Vinyl doesn't have pores, it's plastic.

Re: Vinyl cleaning
So, to summarise, we're saying for plastic seats the answer is elbow grease?
Re: Vinyl cleaning
I have had good results using vanish soap.

Re: Vinyl cleaning
Like i said in my first reply, clean with a decent cleaner (acetone or similar) and a nice rub with baby oil...cheap as chips and fab results.Sorted for less than £2.00 If it is really bad resort to dye.

Re: Vinyl cleaning
After all that elbow grease a nice rub with baby oil must be very relaxing
