Have just tried to renew my RAC membership and claim my MMOC discount. I quoted the code printed in Minor Matters (GE0538) but this is not recognised as a valid code by RAC renewals. At the moment there is NO discount code for the club.
Could someone from MMOC admin look into this please.
Why bother - your Classic Car insurance will surely include Roadside and Recovery - the good ones (ie RH) certainly include that. If not - change insurer.
I had my AA renewal through at £215 . I phone and negotiated it down to £147, you get nothing for loyalty , they just hope you don't notice . Still a lot of money , but I do a lot of business miles .
Very true -my house insurance came in - £80 up on last year (Lloyds) - phoned up and without any delay they knocked the £80 off with no argument. But you must do it right away - at least 4 weeks away from the renewal date - if you leave it to the last minute they will give you nothing off- since they know then that you will not get a better quote at short notice.
My RAC just came up for renewal at £140 (up on last year's) which included a £9 discount for loyalty. No mention of Club discount.
Rang them to be told it also included the Club discount! although no mention of it on the renewal.
The guy asked me to hold while he had a 'word'
Cost came down to £113, worth the phone call (although it was free)
I seem to remember finding that the RAC were the only service which covered vehicles over 10 years old? which is all of ours!
But your Classic Car Insurance already has you covered..... I do have Green Flag for my modern - costs £19 for the year - basic roadside. The car is otherwise covered by the warranty - but beware - these 'warranty' covers with new cars DO NOT cover roadside punctures or 'wrong fuel' - only failures that would be covered by the warranty. Hence the need for basic Green Flag....
