Yes, that is correct. There must be dozens of other cars of the 1950s and 60s which used exactly the same part. Is there a Mini or MG specialist near you if no Minor specialist? Perhaps you could pick one up?

Do the lights go off if you unplug the wires from the switch? Perhaps the connectors are touching each other? And - what happens if you release the pressure in the brake system by briefly opening/closing a bleed nipple?

I wouldn't say that - I for one am interested by it, as mine's a bit tardy to operate; the brakes need a very firm push to get the brake lights to work, yet the switch is only a couple of years old, after the original failed after about 40 years

Do you happen to know which particular vehicle(s) the switch in your link is for, and whether it will fit the Minor?

I just did a search on the site for a 1965 mini as I assume the braking system would have been the same. The picture of the switch on the site looks the same as a minor.

If it is the same and they are better quality than the ones reported recently then happy days!!

I had problems a few years ago with more than one brake light switch needing a very hard push to make it work. I then fitted an Intermotor switch and have had no problems since.

The switch part numbers are:

Early Screw Terminals - up to 1961?
Lucas SBP 400, 31082?
Intermotor 51620

Lucar Terminals
Lucas SMB 423
Lucas 31802
Lucas 34445
Lucas 34542
Lucas 34765
Intermotor 56100
