Good evening,
After a four year re-build I am desperately trying to get my morris convertible on the road, she is fighting me the last few steps. I fitted new wheel bearings and after a run there is an amount of play in both wheel bearings which no tightening of the hub nut (I know this shouldn't be over tightened) will remove.
This leads me to believe I have fitted poor bearings. Where can I get the best front wheel bearings from and is there any advice for fitment of these? A colleague suggested there may be a slight disparity between old and modern bearings and therefore a requirement to shave some of the internal spacer to get the required bearing pre-load. I wasn't happy with this suggestion.
Any advice and direction would be of great help!!
Many thanks
Chris Roberts

Re: Best Font Wheel Bearings
Did you fit them right way round? Some sell 'C3' bearings, which are hopeless....

Re: Best Font Wheel Bearings
Can they be fitted incorrectly and function? I thought they had a thrust face, mounting the other way would cause them to collapse when driving due to loading in the wrong direction. How do I find out what 'C' rating they are?
Thanks
