Traveller boot well, corner pillar and wheel arches

Post by Childnurse »

Hi,

Getting well into the restoration of our Traveller now, but need some advice, please. My son and I have welded on a new boot well, but we are unsure about how to proceed now. Obviously, we have to fit the rear corner floor to pillar brackets and the bumper iron fixng brackets. As all of these components when married up all share common screw holes, does this mean that they should not be welded into place? If so, what size bolts should be used?

Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to dismantle the old assembly, as that was done by a 'restorer' (story elsewhere on the Forum), so we do not have a template/guide.

We then need to fit new rear inner-wings and wheel arches/flanges. I think I have read somewhere that the arches should be cut into two pieces to make welding them onto the wings easier. If anyone has any experience of this then I would be very grateful for advice and guidance.

Hope someone can help. Thanks.
