Hi guys
I have a set of 15" minilite style alloy wheels made by JBW that I brought just over a year ago from a morris minor dealer and the chrome lip around the edge in places has started to go dull with wavy lines going through it. I did try and take some pictures but it doesn't show very well on camera. The wheels have always been stored in a dry garage, have always been well cleaned with autogleam alloy wheel cleaner and they have never been curbed ect. I have tried metal polish on it but it has made no difference.
Has any one else had this problem? and any ideas how I can sought it out?
Thanks
Ben

Re: alloy wheels deteriorating?
It will just be the lacquer deteriorating - happens with most alloys. Solution is to remove lacquer from the rim (its not chrome it's alloy polished/diamond cut then lacquered) and then polish the bare alloy back to a good shine - takes a bit of work. Or else, get the wheels refurbished by a reputable wheel restorer.
