Ex Bomb Disposal Traveler

Post by paulwillson »

Hi all, new to this forum so just wanted to say hi! My daily car has been off the road for repairs for the last month now and I have been entrusted with my Grandads Ex Bomb Disposal Moggy Traveler. After driving a nearly 200bhp hatchback ever day I was really thinking I would get bored driving the Traveler to work and back but I love it! Literally fallen in love with it! So yeah I will be posting some more pictures and info up here (I have all the MOD records etc.) But anyone who wants to share any info on it would be much appreciated! My quest for knowledge starts here!

Thanks, Paul[frame]Image[/frame]

Here are some scans of the vehicle data and some more pictures after a clean, notice the rust on the top of the door shut as this is the only place it's really apparent.[frame]Image[/frame]

When I worked for REME we had a 1098cc Morris traveller as the unit staff car.
It was always sparkling and washed and polished within a inch of its life by the dedicated staff car drivers :D
It was never allowed to break down or rust and was more than adequately serviced by the MT section (as a static REME workshop we only repaired).
We had a RAOC stores full of Minor parts and we had the full range of BMC Minor special tools as listed in the wksp manual.
It was a sad bay when it, the parts and the special tools went for disposal out of the MOD.
Prior to disposal it had a full set of NEW BMC wings fitted not that the old ones were rusty  .
The Morris was replaced by a Ford Escort estate which was not a patch on the Minor.
Before the Minor traveller we had a Hillman Husky estate car.
If anyone has the above car which when I knew it was at HQ Engineer' Wksp REME, Long Marston, I would love to hear from them. Unfortunately I cannot remember the MOD registration number.
Details of locations where the car was used can be found on/in the Plant Record card- example above.
