Sorry if this is old old news, and don't want to start an API number debate, but if like me you're happy to use cheap oil in an A series, but want the reassurance of an API number...
B&Q do this Carlube 20w50 "Daytona" stuff, 11 quid a gallon. All the branches seem to have it, hopefuly they'll keep doing it.
Cheers,
Matt.

My local 'old school' garage (who coincidentally MOT all my cars too) sell a gallon for £9.50 of Millers 20/50. I can't beat the price, spec or brand anywhere else so wins for me hands down!

Interesting, what API rating does the "Daytona " have??
By the way, there is no debate. If you use a non rated oil on anything but an already knackered engine you are asking for trouble!

Been using this oil in my engine and gearbox for 3 years now, no problems with it. It has a spec of API SE/CC.

Seems I'm a little late to the party then! Yes sorry should have mentioned the API rating.
Good shout chesney, think I might ask my local friendly garage to see if they'd consider selling me some.
Cheers,
Matt.
