rotor arm clearance

I cut a cracked distributor cap in half to see the clearance gap the rotor arm has to the contact, any play in the shaft down to the cam or a loose fitting rotor arm can cause intermittent firing issues. The picture shows the gap on a fully restored distributor with an original lucas rotor arm.[frame]Image[/frame]

Very interesting, I've always wondered how it all looks when the cap is on.
The centre post seems to be pushed right in.
