Cast your eye over these two bulk head pics...

Post by warb21 »

Do either of these pics give cause for concern? Being new to things under a Minor's bonnet I want to know if my hunches match those of you with more experience. This is a Rose Taupe car I'm due to own after work has been completed on it.
Thanks!

You're concerned over the green bulkhead on a RT Minor?

Need to check all numbers ON the vehicle.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Thanks both. Yes I was concerned as to a green looking bulkhead panel on a Rose Taupe.
I was also worried there was no fuse box but maybe that's more normal than I thought.
Yes it has an alternator.

Thanks!

That black box IS the fuse box! The missing box is the voltage regulator, it's been removed and the wiring that went to it altered because an alternator doesn't need it.

Personally I will be leaving my regulator in situ and just change the conectors around so it does nothing but keeps the engine bay looking right.

As for the colour - many people have cars resprayed but never have the engine bay repainted.

Looks very like a fuse box to me - this is not an area to worry about - worry more about the UNDERSIDE! But do try to find the stamped in number - and compare it to the chassis plate - and the V5 numbers.

Yes it does look to be green on the n/s pic under the black goo. Maybe a colour change in the past perhaps. Not a great concern if the car's solid, genuine and you like it.
cheers

Under the washer bottle looks to be a battery isolating switch, have a look on the inside for a big red key.
If you turn it off then try to start the engine the fuse that is there to maintain the radio memory will blow (and the engine won't start).

Battery Master Switch in GPO speak.

Another look suggests that the fuse isn't there for the radio memory, maybe the radio itself?
I assume it doesn't have a security code :)

Fitted to a GPO vans for servicing purposes I suppose.
