Post by dalgrae »

Does anyone know please if the 4 off countersunk special nuts that retain the centre vertical glazing bar on a split screen Minor are sold by anyone as I need to replace mine

Replacement centre chrome comes with longer studs and attaches with nuts and washers - not as neat as original countersunk sleeve nuts. I shortened the studs and used my original nuts on my current build - not sure if they are available any more - I reckon you'll have to ask around to get old stock.

You used to be able to get new ones machined in brass (think most of the specialists had them). They had slotted heads rather than cross heads which made it a bit awkward to fit the bottom one as you couldn't get a screwdriver at it in a straight line due to the dashboard and it was easy to slip off. Obviously easier to make a screw with a screwdriver slot than a recessed cross, but even that was a lot neater than long studs and nuts...
Club spares sounds to be the place to go these days!
