Some mark up

Post by ayr41 »

While my quest for a Traveller continues I came across this lovely car from the Minor Magazine, smashing guy who owned it, unfortunately I rang the day another Guy was coming round to view the car, had I been quicker I would have bagged myself a beautiful car but it was not to be as the local Guy paid the asking price of £6950 so my quest continued.

While trawling ebay at the weekend I noticed the very same car up for sale at a dealers for £13,450 a mark up of £6500 nearly double the price so I'm kicking myself now, but I suppose there is one out there for me somewhere ~ a missed opportunity.

That's "business" for you! All based on greed..............sorry; enterprise and entrepreneurial spirit! Personally I find it rather distasteful and hope that they are stuck with it for many, many months to come!
I'd be kicking myself, too!!

A friend of mine contacted a private seller on ebay about a classic (not a Morris) only to be told it had just been sold to a club member. The car appeared again a week or so later on this same dealers site at almost double the price.

So, potentially, they are lying as well then, in order to acquire these cars, as some sellers don't like selling to dealers....
Very underhanded (to put it very mildly)!!

Unfortunately you can't check whether the person you sell to is actually a dealer until you see the same vehicle advertised for sale. I agree very disheartening.

It's ridiculous at the present price - and has the horrible tele damper conversion with the stupidly angled rear dampers - and the hopeless 'bolt on' front dampers..... Notice also that the thickly applied underseal has 'cracks' in the surface - which usually indicates something horrible going on underneath.....and there are some rusty spots showing through in places.

SOLD!
It would be interesting to know how much it actually sold for.

Crying in my tea, I wonder if the buyer will ever realise he paid nearly double what the dealer paid. Me jealous ~ yep but I wanted the car for the car, I'm sure there is another out there?

This looks like a cracker to me.......bite his arm off......... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970-Morris-T ... 461035eed0 Yes - the woodwork is not perfect but could easily be improved to an acceptable level - or pay to have new wood fitted.
