Crankshaft advice

Post by dalgrae »

The spare engine on my 948 cc I am thinking of overhauling has some wear on the crankshaft as follows

Main bearings -0005" on the side to side measurement of the journal with 2 lands being -001" on the top to bottom measurement of the journal

Big ends 2 journals -0015" on the top to bottom measurement of the journal all other journal sizes -001"

All the journals are smooth and scratch free with no ridges at all , if the measurements were as the manual I would be happy to rebuild the crank into the engine and I understand that some of the figures are slightly smaller on the diameters but as these are because of I assume on the top to bottom thrust stroke load part of the crank I am not sure , so can someone please advise me if they think it would be OK to rebuild with new shell bearings or is a regrind required

I hope this makes some sort of sense

New shells and a new oil pump - it will be fine.
