Winkley (I think), Devon

Post by AlTroakex »

My brother was recently galavanting and came across these two. Pretty rusted out by the looks of things but salvagable?[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

well i was thinking it wouldnt be all the world for me to make a trip during my christmas break from uni, but i have the problem of transport as my s2 minor is off the road being restored (why i want the parts). might have to do some ringing about yards beforehand and then tap up the parents for the loan of a car....

Only pictures I have I'm afraid. Can't get hold of my brother, don't reckon he'd be able to tell me exactly how to get there, but when/if I find out i'll keep you guys posted. :)

i wonder if these are at the famous blackborough house- which means everything will be for sale, just not at the price you want to buy it. its in cullompton. apparently the owner, a mr ralph sanders, is accommodating if you catch him on the right day. have a quick google and you will see what a treasure trove that place is.

The same Ralph that was on Salvage Hunters?

I don't think that's the same guy, I think this place is nearer Okehampton.

the very same. it just seems like the kind of old school yard this pair would hide in.
i'm not entirely sure on the location, but okehampton is only 10-15 from winkleigh isnt it?

It's definitely not blackborough, they only have one minor and is hasn't got a roof (or much else). What they do have is too long to list but I saw at least 12 mk2 jags, a couple of a35s, loads of mgs etc etc. They must have hundreds of cars including some pre war. its an amazing place, well worth the visit...

It's about halfway between honiton and cullumpton if you draw a straight line between them. Yes that's right, the middle of nowhere.

Most of them had budleia growing all over them, and in some cases inside them.

There is also a pile of engines about 60 feet across and 30 feet tall, with another of geaboxes next to it.

Apparently the really old cars are inside the house.

House is for sale, might be worth careful watching as I should think all the cars on the land will be sold with the house and then all sent to the scrapyard in one go. :-? :-?
