1275 oil pressure

Post by JOWETTJAVELIN »

Can anyone please tell me ideal figures for the 1275?

Hot idle and hot running? Thanks.

Hot running - should be 60 psi minimum - 70 ideally. Idling pressure depends so much on the idle speed - but assuming not stupidly low idle - 25 to 50 psi is normal.

Thanks - I will put the oil gauge on and check. Oil lamp is useless as many have said - it takes a while for mine to go out after starting up hot and cold but it never comes back on again, I'm thinking maybe faulty switch?

Anyway all will be confirmed after fitment of the gauge.

The switch is probably plugged full of crud causing it to be ssslllowww reacting.

Fitted gauge today and got these figures after a good run:

75+ lbs cruising speed
just shy of 75lbs at 30 MPH
55lbs hot idle.

Katy - I used another switch but it still flickers a bit on start up, usually goes out in 3-4 secs though.
