Penulty regarding type of tyres

Post by Leyland »

Bill
I have aposting in 'other' regarding the question of radial versus crossply tyres. Interesting comments!
I f the car was being shown (which i hope to when complete) would there be a penulty regarding the tyres if the car has radials which of course were not original fitment?

For concours there would be a points penalty.

However, you could have two sets of wheels, one set fitted with radials (everyday use) and one set of crossplies for showing.

Leyland, sorry for the delay. If crossply tyres were specified for your car and you fit radials, there is a penalty of 2 marks. There is also an additional 2 mark penalty if the wrong valve caps are fitted.
However don't let this frighten you off. If you would like a full set of rules, just let me know.

Actually Bill, I would not mind a set of rules purely out of interest if at all possible. I know my car is WAY off concours, but I would be interested to know all the nitty gritty details of the points system.

Thanks.

Yes, I'd like a copy of the rules too, and I'd like to know what loses marks at concours in terms of underbody repairs, welding etc....
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

I can answer that one they should be of the metal type and not the modern plastic ones.
Cheers

Just so that there is no mistake, they should be of the Shrader type, without the valve removal tool.

Hope this helps.

Just out of interest Judge, did you manage to sort out a copy of the concours rules? If you need them typing up on Acrobat or Word my eldest will happily type them up (as part of her college coursework) as she's doing a touch type course. And it would keep her out of my hair for a few hours
