Fuel Gauge Float Rheostat
I'm replacing the Fuel gauge float unit in my 1956 Mk II as the reading is all to cock a doodle diddley - probably as I had to re-solder the copper coil wire to the connector. I have a salvaged one in good nick. However, my old one is dry inside the coil housing while the one I've just obtained is lightly wet with what appears to be a lube rather than water - any view on wet or dry would help. Many thanks

Re: Fuel Gauge Float Rheostat
I can answer my own question - the one that was slightly lubed dried out and works perfectly. Joy of joys! I now know when I'm about to run out of fuel. Mind you every time I have had to stop to fill up from my spare can, someone always comes up and says, "saw you on the bypass today - were you broken down? Was going to stop and help but....."
