Tips for buyers & sellers

Post by LouiseM »

Here are some useful tips for buyers & sellers:

Sellers

Please provide as much detail as possible regarding the item you are selling and the condition it is in - providing photos will assist potential buyers.

It is helpful to potential purchasers to state a price for your item. Asking for ‘offers’ without providing an indication of the sort of figure you are looking for may delay any sale.

If you are happy for purchasers to collect the item from you please say so in your advertisement. If your site profile does not show the location of the item please provide this.

If providing postage for the item please state your postage & packing charges. Items can go missing in the post so sending the item by registered / recorded delivery will ensure proof of posting and provide a record of the item being received by the purchaser.

Buyers

Before parting with your money you should make enquiries with the seller with regards to the condition of the item. If photos are not provided ask the seller to provide you with these.

To avoid being out of pocket should the item go missing in the post, ask the seller to send the item by registered / recorded delivery. Although this will cost more than standard postage it will ensure that in the event of a loss a claim can be raised with the Post Office.

Payment

Payment via Paypal is a safer option than sending cash, cheques etc through the post

Disputes

Most of the transactions carried out on this message board are trouble free but if a dispute arises please follow the process outlined here: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=41567
