Trafalgar Blue is probably the name of the colour that you are looking for.

The colours are all listed at the website below but I am not sure if the dates of introduction are listed correctly.

Can you be a bit more specific about 'blue' (ie: light or dark). Although my reference book lists only two colours, I'm certain there at least 3 colours used in 1968 /69. Trafalgar Blue, Smoke Grey and Bermuda blue.
Possibly also Teal blue if you have a traveller.

I'm not sure the published paint codes are 100% accurate. According to my books Bermuda Blue was only used in 1968 for police saloons and travellers, yet my 2-door is certainly Bermuda Blue and I doubt the entire bodyshell has been resprayed. Also there are two distinctive shades of Trafalgar blue.

The colours are easily available, from paint specialists or Minor parts specialists.

Travellers & commecial vehicles were built at Adderley Park (Birmingham) from 1969 - 1971. From info. to hand Bermuda Blue, Teal Blue, Azure Blue and Persian Blue were used only at this factory. So 1968 would pre-date the above.
Clipper Blue was discontinued Oct. 1961 for Saloons and July 1960 for Travellers.
Smoke Grey continued to end of production.
Trafalgar Blue continued from Aug. 1962 until end for Saloons.
From Nov. 1967 to July 1969 for Traveller.
Can't find any info. with regard to differing shades of Trafalgar Blue. BMC code was BU37, ICI code 6189.

Trafalgar blue

Depends which book you're quoting from I guess. Trafalgar blue was lightened from 1968 & I've read this several times. :o It is stated on p224 of 'The world's supreme small car' (3rd edition) by Paul Skilleter.
I own a rusty 1969 saloon in this colour. When respraying patches with BU37 paint it is clearly darker in hue than the original colour used on the car. Personally I prefer the darker hue.

If you refer to 'Original Morris Minor' by Ray Newall it clearly states that Bermuda Blue was only used on Travellers from 1969. We also know it was used on Police cars.

However, I've got a reproduction BMC poster with the legend 'Best Seller - '65 edition That's today's Minor 1000 what's more it's a Morris.
Illustrated is a light blue 2-door. I'm sure it's Bermuda Blue (BU40) as smoke grey is much darker.

I have a feeling the reference books are not 100% correct.

You've not wrong there Olonas - I must go to bed earlier. Actually I used the wide eyed emoticon as it reminded me of a red eyed bookworm.

What's happened to the original poster I wonder? We need feedback to help him.
