Traveller in Kirby's Car Breakers, Rochford. **GONE**
Just thought I'd mention this in case anyone was interested. I have just weighed in a very rusty 1971 Traveller in Teal Blue at the above yard. Not much left on it but it's still got an engine block, gearbox, back axle, steering wheel, front suspension, wheels, bonnet, back doors, wiper motor and a few other bits and pieces.

Thanks for letting us know, I'm just about to start the restoration of a Traveller and I'm sure to need some bits. I'll have to check it out next week.
Lets hope they saved it like they do with most older cars and not put it straight onto the pile.

I was in there today having a look round and I saw it, nothing seems to have been sold off it yet. Yep they've put it to one side, I imagine it will be there for quite a while before it gets crushed. They have a Humber Sceptre estate and a Talbot Alpine that have both been in the yard about 15 years!

Went and had a look at this yesterday whilst looking for bits for my other project. Not much of it left now, the whole roof, dash and front scuttle area has been cut off it, there are no doors or interior. Still got all the running gear and a few other little bits worth saving, but knowing Kirby's it will still be there for another year or two so hpoefully it will be totally stripped.
The floors had be nicely plated from the inside, but it still had a lot of lower rot, and the wood seemed very soft, looks in about the same condition as the one I'm going to restore. Such a shame.

Looking pretty well stripped, somebody must have needed the roof and front bulkhead.
Still a few usable bits left on it, lets hope it gets totally stripped.

Car is now gone, Kirby's is under new ownership and all the old cars have been crushed.
Such a shame, that was about 30 old cars gone for good.

As the purpose of the thread is gone but there seem to be a fair few of in Southend, I'm going to risk a hi-jack to say that there's a Retro Rides meet up in Chalkwell on 2 March if anyone's interested. Oldish cars, modified or not.
Might appeal particularly to young members as the average age is a bit lower than on here.
