Mini 1275 GT camshaft

Post by williamraff »

Can anyone advise if the above camshaft offers any performance gains over the standard 1275 camshaft, or are they essentially the same ?
Thanks,Will.

If anything - later 1275 cams are slightly better. Essentially the same timing - but timed a few degrees advanced for supposed better economy.... The best 'standard' cam is the MG Metro cam......

Cheers Roy, you told me this months ago but I have yet to find one on ebay or any of the mini forums. There are a couple of Kent cams on ebay at the moment but I think the 286 might be a bit too highly strung for what I am after, not sure if the 643 would be more appropriate? I have 1275cc, 11 stud head with double springs, duplex, hif 38 and a LCB exhaust. I am looking for pulling power (Traveller) rather than a screamer.

A 266 cam seems to be nearest to the MG cam. Your carb is too small for best power - but may be best for economy.
