My heater does not work at all, I have a 1962, 948cc, 2 door saloon and the heater does nothing. The fan is not spinning and as far as I know there is no water flowing (but I could be wrong, don't know how to check). I am 85% sure I heard a humming from it after some fiddling on the test run but never again.
I initally thought the fuse, but after checking the Hanes manual to see what Amp i needed I discovered that there is no reference to heaters in it and the car only has two fuses which would mean everything else would have died (it hasn't).
Any ideas?
Thanks

heater
The heater fan is supplied by the fuse which has all the green
wires on it so there is nothing wrong with the fuse if all the
other items are working. You need to put a test meter across
the fan green wire and chassis to see if there is a supply there
(with ignition ON). You should have the 'circular'type heater
with the knob in the middle? you can put your fingers up in
the front plate and feel if the fan spins freely(with the ignition OFF).
You can check the water flow through the heater by first ensuring
that the heater tap, at the rear of the cylinder head, is open. When
the engine has warmed up you should feel that the rubber pipe
from this tap is HOT and that the other rubber pipe returning from
the heater is almost as hot. If the return pipe is not hot then you
have an air lock. If both pipes are hot then your fan is probably
not working. Has your car got a knob at the bottom of the dash
which opens a fresh air inlet for the car? If so then you should
feel some heat output when the car is moving along?

Hmm, realy dont know where to look for this green wire, I have looked under the car, in the bonet and behind the dash but cannot see and green wires leading to the heater, when you say under the heater do you mean behind the pannel under the circulkar piece? I thought this is where you ment but it has many bolts holding it to the floor and I was worried that if I unscrewed them something would fall apart.
Thanks

green wire
The green wire is connected to one side of the central control
knob on the heater so it emerges from the heater and connects
to the fuse eventually. I think that you will find that it is connected
to the OIL Pressure warning light on the rear of the speedometer. The return pipe for the heater water is the rubber hose just above the
feed pipe from the heater tap on the cylinder head. They are
identical pipes so you can't miss them.

green wire
I will refine the green wire position further. The FUEL GAUGE
voltage stabiliser has a bunch of green wires attached to it(dark
green, not the pale green one) one of these wires then goes to
a 'snap' (bullet)connector which has two wires feeding off of it.
One goes to the OIL pressure warning light on the speedo, the other
goes to the HEATER control switch.
