Indicator stalk light stays on when in middle position.

Post by alainmoran »

When you actually indicate, it flashes as normal, and all four corners are working just fine, but when the stalk is in the middle the bulb stays on.

Any ideas?

Alain.

i am going to take a long shot and say the relay. 1 of the 3 wires supplys the bulb.
i dont think the problem is on the stalk.

flasher

If you have the tubular flasher unit then I think that the fault
lies within it. Provided that the pilot lamp goes out when you
turn off the ignition I think you need a new unit. (as 'Brixton'
suggests).

Hello Alain,
if your flasher relay is the three terminal type, which I suspect it is, then the stalk lamp is probably connected to the wrong terminal. The correct termination is:- green (supply) to B, green\blue (To indicator switch) to L, light green (indicator warning lamp i.e. stalk lamp) to P.
Alternatively if someone has substituted a two terminal type flasher relay and connected the warning lamp to the indicator switch terminal this will give the symptoms you describe.

Alec
