I have just bought my first Morris, a 1962 948cc 2 door saloon and am wondering about the options for converting to unleaded fuel. Could anyone give me a ballpark figure for a conversion or any advice on this at all?
Thanks
leaded to unleaded conversion?

If you have a local machine shop you can get your head converted from £120 + gaskets ect if you DIY but if you have a local garage do it for you it will depend on local labour charges and where the head comes from, as Ray quoted some places want £400 +, the cheaper options are discussed under the same subject in the Useful Tips section.

The £400 was quite a while ago, but many Minor specialists still quote £300+ to do it for you. Exchange heads are £150 to £200 from the minor centres.
Have a look in this thread as everyhting is in there - a head conversion is not the only option, and not always the best option:

It's amazing how the same stuff comes up so regularly... Maybe we should have an FAQ page alongside the index with links to the threads!!
Ooops that probably a right pain in the backside & loads of work...

Dan,
There is a FAQ section on the main site which includes info on unleaded fuel and the various options. Also includes a link to FBHVC site so they can find the test details. FBHVC are too polite to mention the additives that failed...
hmm I bet a lot of Minor owners are using a failed additive.
It doesn't really go into pricing detail or the fact that it is often sensible not to have the head conversion, to either use an additive, or to wait until the head needs doing anyway. But most of the info can be found if you follow the advice suggested there..
(thanks of course to Andrew and Billy... )
