Smiths Gauges

Post by Alex'n'Ane »

Are the original smiths temperature gauges electric or capillary? or were both available? Also does anyone have a picture of the back of the gauges so i know what to look out for?

Also is there any advantage to either type, price or performance wise?

Capillary is more traditional/better. But also more fragile!

The capillary gauge is available as a dual gauge, oil pressure at the top and water temp at the bottom. The early gauges were calibrated in degF the later in degC and the modern ones in H N C.
