Re: Spotted today.
I have spotted two. A nice grey one in Cwmbran Town Centre and a rough looking blue tourer parked up in a driveway in the lanes between Newport & Caerleon. It looks like it's been there sometime and could be a restro project.

Re: Spotted today.
Hello spied a trafalgar blue saloon as I ate lunch in Cambridge and then on the way home a lovely sandy/beige pick up near Wimpole (XJH 233J).

That's not far from where I live... if it's the place I've been told about, anyway. I've never been, because I'm told the place is like a kind of Morris Minor "black hole"! Apparently, the guy is a retired Minor specialist, but he never lets go of anything, either through donation or sale, since he's retired.
It's called Pontiago Garage, or something like that.

Re: Spotted today.
That blue convertible last Sunday in the Sainsbury's near Esher was probably me. It was the big Sainsubury's in Cobham and as I was driving out I waved at a white late 50s/early 60s 4 door saloon coming in! That just had to be you Trabantdave!

Hi All,
spotted last night in the Langley/Iver area of Bucks, a blue G-reg two door saloon, drivers door in primer and blowing a little smoke but still outrunning my 948cc.... Greetings

Spotted today at Bacton Norfolk. Red B reg convertable called Ruby towing a caravan, and lost, stopped and helped them locate their final destination which was only 100 yards away from where they were stopped

Re: Spotted today.
Today I saw a tidy van, now covered in red oxide on the top of Shooters hill.
Last time I saw It, it was bright red, colour change in the offing, I suspect.

Saw a rather nice white Traveller heading north on the A33 (and in to a bundle of traffic by the motorway) at around 9 this morning.

Re: Spotted today.
Saw a brown traveller (961 BLA) passing through Thorpe Market on the A149 as I was returning home from a car boot. Didn't wave as I was in a turbo daily and not one of my mogs

Re: Spotted today.
Hi, apparently there are 27010 minors registered in the UK, a lot of theses are on SORN, I think there are about 16000 actually on the road. I'd imagine there are a lot more minis than minors on the road as there were a lot more built and most of them will be newer.docgibbons wrote:anyone know how many minors (approx) on the roads in the UK? and would they outnumber, say, old minis?

Re: Spotted today.
Where did you get the number of Minors on the road from?
Not suggesting it isn't true, but wondering why there isn't a number for Minis somewhere.
They were a least as prone to rot as Minors and tended to need new rear sub frames every X years.
Also things were changing through the 60s and 70s,the " make do and mend" mentality of the war years gave way to something more hedonistic, a trend that has continued to the current day.
I doubt may Mini owners would bother with painting the underside with old engine oil to protect their investment as their parents might well have done.

Re: Spotted today.
i kind of agree with that. i reckon to see at least as many moggies as old minis on the road, and with so many specialist moggie garages around, and restorations being done, i'd be interested to see comparable figures.

Re: Spotted today.
It wouls be nice to know how many morris minors left in a years time . To get an idea of the scrapage rate is now as the average is about 19000 per year just to see how much it has slowed down.
