Well, we've started FINALLY on Rita's restoration.
Taking the wheels off to have a look at the brakes. (in the pouring rain!) Siezed, the pistons are completely fused shut, so we voted to get a set of new ones. Assuming that the back brakes suffered the same fate, we have ordered new cylinders for all four wheels.
The welding is another job entirely.
While under the arch inspecting the brakes, father decided to whack a hammer against a sill. Dull thud, pile of rust.
Oh dear!
We knew this would happen, so we have sheet metal ready and are now clearing the garage of ford parts!
Essential Parts so far:
New brake cylinders all round.
New fibreglass wings all round.
Sheet Metal!
Nonessential Parts so far:
CD player, to replace old skippy tape player from Dad.
Pedal Covers, complete with rod-style flames from Stepmum.
One Shiny pair of Headlamp Peaks from the Boyfriend <3
Pictures to follow as soon as possible.

Had a few nonessential 'fun' items given to me for my 18th birthday! Also the promise of my test-fees paid by Mother and the full restoration worked by Father.

Happy Birthday - any chance of some photos of the restoration though? As Lou says, it would be useful to other members to see the restoration in progress. Words are good but pictures say far more when undertaking a restoration as we can actually see what is being done, and how, which is a good source of reference for others

I have no idea! I think it was a mix that the original owner got made up from a colour match - we have some of it stored to paint the wings and an eventual respray.regaliaqueen wrote:BTW do you know what paint colour your car is. My daughter wants hers painted in lime green when the welding has been finished.
Try looking up Kawasaki Green or that Lime they use on Plymout 'Cudas!
