this could be the dumbest question ever
so sorry in advance!!
in my haynes manual, the headlight bulb looks like it fits into a reflector unit, but when going to replace said bulb, the unit is attached to the connection as a whole unit (reflector unit and all) rather than just a bulb that fits in. So now the bulb has blown do i need a whole new big bulb unit or can i buy a relector unit that fits round a standard bulb as it appears in the manual? (oh she's a 67 saloon if taht makes any difference)
Or am i being REALLY stupid??
Non - electrically - the same manual doesn't tell me how to mend the passenger lock which is now wedged locked - any ideas on how to free up the inside handle??

Here's the sealed beam (best buy two and treat the other side!) http://www.morrisminorspares.net/shop_item.php?ID=1545
Or - if you actually want to SEE where you are going - nows the time to invest in a set of Halogen headlights for not that much more! http://www.morrisminorspares.net/shop_item.php?ID=3741

Learn something new every day!
My understanding is that the halogen bulb has to run at VERY high temperature in order to 'recycle' the metal of the filament back onto the filament (otherwise it deposits on the glass) - and this is only possible in the 'halogen' atmosphere and in the small glass envelope of the bulb. This was the reason why 'dim-dip' lighting was abandoned - when halogen bulbs were fitted they ran too cold and turned black in no time!

The halogen units I have seen are like a sealed beam unit but with an h4 type bulb as part of it so it still has the small glass envelope you describe. Pretty pointless really.bmcecosse wrote:Learn something new every day!

I fitted the Wipak Halogen kit from Bull Motif spares last week. Dead easy to do (10 mins) and so much better at night than the sealed beam units.
They do have a slightly flatter profile than the sealed units, but otherwise you wouldn't know.

Mine look like the sealed beam unit, but have a halogen bulb connector that just pushes in the back. I got mine from the Birmingham Moggy centre.... £30 for a pair. They came in a Lucas box and have Lucas embossed into the lense, they look very original.
