Excellent Willie, thanks. You've saved me an investigation job! It's not urgent but any increase, however small, in hot air output has to be better.
I'll have a look next time I'm lying down there. I was under there only recently wiring in a new radio/cd and on previous occasions but not being bothered about the heater it never enters the head to think while I'm down here lets have a look and see if the motor connections are accessible. It's only after reading your post the possibility of changing the wires came to the fore.

Thanks for that Willie when I mentioned this in the past I was informed that it made no difference to the heater output so I stopped mentioning it but I am glad you found it made a difference as I also found.If you wish to check for maximum fan power then
swop these two leads over(on my car I had to lengthen one
lead,you may be luckier) the difference is considerable.

It could have been a misunderstanding Kevin as to which type
of heater because,strangely enough, I found that my original
'round type' heater did not improve if I changed the polarity!!
