Serie II air filter on HS2

Post by markattard »

Has anyone ever fitted an air filter similar to the one in the pic below:

To a relatively modern HS2 carburettor?

Why would you?? But it should fit ok - just make sure all the little holes (and one big one) match up!

There's a problem with the HS2 flange it is fixed to the later type air filter with bolts through the filter's holes. On the other hand the old type filter has holes which used to fix the H1 carb using bolts facing the other way round.

I know this is difficult to explain in words, but who is familiar to both carbs would understand.

Just wanted to use this filter for esthetics basically, my engine setup is different from the original and uses the HS2 carb...

I'm sure if it's just 'bolts etc' - that can be easily over come ! The HS1 is a smaller carb - so you may have to open up holes etc to get that v important match!

actually the HS2 position falls a few cms short to the old type filter position (which is attached to two strong brackets and would not give in a mm!), so I would need to manufacture a special type of flange....

Just pull harder on the 'strong brackets' - they WILL give !
