Newbie with a major Minor project.

Manners first so I must introduce myself, Lucy, Student (now starving), nearly 17 and just bought a Morris Minor hot rod project (as well as a mint Austin A35).

Magnificent - and welcome! This one project will be nice to follow.

Inspiration: in the 1970:s, some Swede built a very potent and successful dragster called Bumble Bee - here pictured with a US celebrity of the time, miss Hurst (Linda Vaughn).

I saw BumbleBee live in action ca 1976-77. She was running in a class called (C/SA) Competition/Street Altered at the time - meaning cars could have anything from screaming VW beetle engines of 150bhp to turbocharged V8:s of ca 350-400 bhp. Very little BB info has turned up online. AFAIK, it had a massive V8, more or less midmounted, and there wasn´t much left of the original chassis. Try contacting SHRA Stockholm with inquiries.

Looks pretty darn good. Some major fabrication work done there - not sure I would have been able to insure a v6 when I was at uni, not sure I could now either.......

when im 18/19 (19 really) its only £130 a year as its so modded and its stored in a garage - the Austins for now and is only £500 a year to insure as a named driver - another reason for getting classics!

That seems crazy cheap. Its not that long ago since I was 18 and I recall it being about #400 for a standard car.....

Austin Reed is really good for classic/ very modded cars must be over 19 though

Lucky you!! you can have a modded car at the age of 19!! Here in Malta we can have a bigger engine then 1500cc after 25 unless of course you pay some crazy prices on insurance! another year to wait!! btw that's a very ncie machine you got there and the setup sound great too!! enjoy it and welcome!

I love the frenched lights.

Theres not a lot of leg room in the cab though. I wonder if you could modify the gearbox cover at all?

The fab work with the front suspension and moving the rack is amazing. Its going to handle really well with that setup.

The car has no handles either which I personally think is great! - it has a clicker to open the drivers door.
We think it has suspesion from a triumph vitesse - cant be sure yet though.

We want to take the gear box tunnel out and change it into a curve if that makes sense? Then cover it in engine turned ali to match the dash.
The engine is still undecided, the grumpy dad wants me to have a V8 diesel engine in it but I not so sure, hopefully something with lots of oomph that’s not too thirsty and that would still spiffing when the bonnets off.

Where about are you motherofgod if you don’t mind me asking?

And my ultimate plan ATM consists of a pale blue paint job, picnic set and cream leather bucket seats. - Anyone have ideas for anything else?

My car has a square ish gearbox cover which I don't mind, as it's all nicely trimmed now( by me) if I built from scatch I would have a curved. forget the diesel loads of hassel IMO, did you get a screen with it?
