I know him - nice chap!

Generally, it's best to try 22/24 all round. Travellers generally have 24 rear.

If they're radial tyres, then you might like to up them a little - I use 25 all round on Phyllis to no ill-effect.

thanks,

I have Radials on the rear, and they have 35 psi max printed on them.

Is this combination of Radials on rear and X-ply on the front ok?

It's not ideal, but they are acceptable if not mixed on the same axle.
In your case it is probably safe, because the lower grip of the crossply tyres at the front dictates how fast you go round bends. If a car has Radials all round the rear tends to slide first, due to the higher weight on the front axle.

You have a problem with the spare tyre - if you have to use it then you could end up with a dangerous combination. Over all it would best to have only one type of tyre. I use 155 Radials at 26psi all round.

I have 165's (Mich MX) on my trav (slightly wider rims). Do you think I'm best off sticking with the standard pressures ?
Thanks
Ben
