Oxford that is.

Quick, somewhat daft question.

Does anyone know if a horn is a legal MOT reqirement?

It doesnt seem to have one (that I can find) and it does have a current MOT. Most odd.

You are certainly meant to have a horn. Your MO should have had one factory fitted

Must have a means of audible warning - Bicycle bell would do! Or squeeze bulb horn of course.

all cars must have a horn for the mot
pre 1906 they can have a gong!
there are different rules for cars made before 1973 compared to after about the sound of the horn - eg post 1973 the sound must be continuous

if there is already a horn all you'd need would be a switch from maplins (£1) and some wiring :)

thanks for the replies guys, but I managed to find the horn and the switch. Not exactly where you'd expect them, but on a Pro-Street drag car its never where you expect ;)

Certainly looks nicer in that colour than it's previous guise. I'm sure I offered it for sale here about 2 years ago when my mate had it.

Was that Tess?

If so its been extensively re-done since then - whole new chassis, paint, interior etc etc - most of the new work done by Chris at Unique.

Now running a full 3x2 box chassis, jag front (rebuilt), jag rear (rebuilt), new paint (lambo orange pearl), 3.9 (I believe) with mild cam and edelbrock/holley. Running 275's rear, firestone F560 front.

Dave sorted the front suspension as it was a bit dodgy when he got it, interior is the same (I think ) as it was just done when Dave bought the car, chassis seemed fine, so can't see why it would be changed. wheels etc are the same too. I'll send you pics that i took a couple of years ago.

Nice car! Tastefully modified, I'd say it actually looks better than the Oxford original. Serious US V8, looks a little more Boyd Coddington than Chip Foose. The colour suits it perfectly.

(BTW, we'd be delighted to see you at the Kent Branches Hop on the 9th of September! www.kenthop.co.uk)
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

I can't believe it needs a hooter I'm sure you can hear it coming!

As far as I know you will need one for the MOT or at least a little man with a red flag to walk in front
