Traveller/Van Rear view mirror extensions...

Post by t_hinchliffe »

Further to a post I read a couple of days ago and cannot seem to find again for the life of me;

Discussing the problem some Trav/Van drivers have with obscured view out the back due to posts between windows, thus not being able to see the cars directly behind you at certain distances. I am one of these people.

A solution was said to be had by adding a clip on extention to the rear view mirror which sounds sensible enough, so I was wondering if anyone knows the availability of any nice looking 'period' ones as opposed to the ones conjured up in ones head when hearing 'clip on mirror extension' ie black plastic caravanesque type.

Thanks :wink: TH

How about a fresnel lens on the back window like this one?

I had one on the van that I had and it worked very well.

A friend lives in Belgium but drove a RHD van until recently.
He always had problems with blind spots until discovering the range of mirrors available for HGV's.
A visit to a truck stop or even the numerous on-line accessory suppliers should find something suitable yet is in keeping with the style you want.

This sounded such a great idea I gave it a go but I'm not having much joy finding anywhere suitable online. If anyone finds a good online place, would they be lovely and PM me with the details? cheers 8)

If you can take a sneak peak at a trucking amgazine (WH Smiths ?) they are full of accessory suppliers web site details.
Not sure if they ahev what you want but a very quick search finds this -

My friend definatley managed to get stainless from a truck stop so they are about .
I suspect the web site I quickly linked was more replacement for original equipments type mirrors hence plactic.

If anyone finds a good online place
Try CDC Truck. They do truck bits.
